  48. DESCRIPTION

  50. Mac CallerID© is a shareware application that will display and
  51. store specific information provided by your local telephone
  52. company.  You must subscribe to your local telephone company’s
  53. “caller information and identification service,” commonly known
  54. as Caller ID.   This application is similar to the Caller ID
  55. boxes available in many stores, but is available at a fraction
  56. of the cost.  A lot of work went into the application, and
  57. hopefully you will agree that it is worth the nominal fee or
  58. more.

  60. The caller's name, number, date and time can be displayed as
  61. a single call or in a list of all calls.  Mac CallerID should
  62. work in the United States, Canada and Sweden.

  64. Mac CallerID©  REQUIRES THAT YOU ARE IN AN AREA WHERE CALLER ID
  65. IS AVAILABLE, YOU ARE A SUBSCRIBER AND HAVE A MODEM THAT
  66. SUPPORTS CALLER ID.

  69. What is Caller ID?
  70.  
  71. Caller ID is a way for you to determine who is calling before
  72. you answer the phone.  Between the first and second rings,
  73. the phone company sends information about who is calling.
  74. Not all the information is always available, many times the
  75. call might have originated from an area that does not support
  76. Caller ID.  At other times the call may be blocked by the
  77. calling party.

  83. •  System 7 or greater
  84. •  Modem with Caller ID support
  85. •  Caller ID service must be provided by your local telephone 
  86.    company and you must subscribe to     the service.

  89. Mac CallerID©  - STANDARD FEATURES (UNREGISTERED VERSION)
  90. •  Mac CallerID© displays the complete telephone number, name,
  91.             area code, time and date of the call.
  92. •  It can display a single call or a list of all calls.  All 
  93.    available information will be displayed.  Calls that have no 
  94.    data will not be displayed.
  95. •  Calls with phone numbers can be dialed via the Macintosh
  96.    speaker or through the modem.
  97. •  The Mac CallerID© database can be read into ClarisWorks or
  98.    another similar application to create an instant database of
  99.    callers.
  100. •  New calls will be displayed automatically, you will be
  101.    notified by the flashing new call indicator in the top right
  102.    hand corner of the window.  Clicking any button or the new
  103.    call indicator will stop the indicator from flashing.
  104. •  Metro Dialing Option, this enables you to dial a number that
  105.    requires an area code but does not need a 1 in front of the
  106.    number.  
  107. •  Works in the United States, Sweden, and Canada.  Tested in the
  108.    following Canadian Provinces: Manitoba, Saskatchewan,
  109.    and Ontario.
  110. •  Works with Supra, Zyxel, Motorola, some Global Village,
  111.    and PowerBit modems.

  115. •  Printing a single call or a list of all calls.
  116. •  SubstituteCaller.  When a call comes in with a telephone
  117.    number and no name, Mac CallerID©  will attach the specified
  118.    name.
  119. •  Find the next or previous occurrence of a name, phone
  120.    number or date in the database.
  121. •  Many "Core" Apple Events are supported.  Supported events
  122.    from the "Core" suite are: count, delete, get data, get data
  123.    size.
  124.    Note "DELETE" will delete the specified call without
  125.    prompting the user.
  126.    Miscellaneous AppleEvents: InitModem and ReleaseModem.
  127. •  Copy the currently displayed or selected caller information
  128.    to the clipboard.
  129. •  PREFERENCES FEATURES:
  130.             •  Replace displayed name with user specified name.
  131.       For example if a call comes in with XYZ company
  132.       303 123-1234, you can specify that the name be replaced
  133.       with Mr. Nobody.  This is done by adding the name and
  134.       number to the "SubstituteCaller" dialog.
  135.    •  Hide or shrink the Mac CallerID©  window when the
  136.       application is in the background. 
  137.    •  Bring Mac CallerID©  to the front when a call comes in.
  138.    •  Delete all calls that do not have a number when quitting
  139.       the application.
  140.    •  Delete all calls when quitting the application.
  141.    •  Display the single or all calls view when starting
  142.       Mac CallerID© .
  143.    •  Speak the name or number of the caller. 
  144.       Note you must have the Speech Manager Extension installed
  145.       to use this feature.
  146.    •  Launch a specified application when a new call
  147.       comes in.

  151. •  PageMe - Have Mac CallerID©  call your pager when an
  152.    important call comes in.  Specify who can or can not page

  159. destination for the Mac CallerID©  folder.
